The First Note

Image
I love my home, my parents are doctors, so like a clinic we mostly try to keep things neat and tidy. We even have maids to ensure the house is clean always. Well that's the second reason why I love my home.  I feel proud to say the first reason are the walls of our place. Now you might think new paint may be the reason, and now you might've realised my answer is no. I remember watching a history documentary of some royals, and like huge walls of royal beginnings, Our walls have memories too. I love how things turned from aged black and white Polaroids to colored and bright nows. Among our history of healers in the family, there's an isolated story which I love. My father once told this to me one night when I couldn't sleep.  "We had a pianist in our family . Your grandmother!", He said. I made a face, amazed, she was a nurse. He smiled.  " She faced a lot as a child. Her father didn't facilitate her family enough. In order to support the family she bec...

Death Passed - Short story

There are several things I hated, but what I hate the most being an adult is traffic on my way back home.  Who wants that, what all want is an anywhere door for that prime time rush.  It was not my fault, it was not my time. I was at a wrong place at a wrong time. Such Accidents happens! At 6:30, I packed my stuff from my desk, prepared to leave. I felt shivers over my body, I didn't paid attention, I needed to.  I waited for my Ride back home, but after a while i felt tired of waiting. I walked a little ahead, keeping a check for vehicle at the same time.  There was a shop, which called attention since the day I saw it. Grey shutters which never let anyone have a peek inside were opened today. Something moving was about that shop, I crossed the road to reach there willing to have a tea time.  Some child suddenly ran without looking at vehicles while passing the road. All people were horrified, all eyes were on the child.I knew that child, there was a resemblanc...

Makar Sankranti - A wish

Image
"It's a big day for a kind deed. Just take some time out of your busy schedule and give something," In a hurry to reach home, I remembered these words again. It's a big day and being a part of this beautiful culture, I must. Meanwhile, my mind was still equipped by the sight of the dog, who was lying dead on the street the other day.  I loved dogs when I was a child. I remember playing with street dogs back at home except growing up I had a fear of getting bitten by them.  I reached the shop to buy some jaggery. I want to do something for them, my mind wandered. I stepped out of the shop and on the stairs I found a hungry innocent beast looking at me, expecting. I smiled at him and he looked at me like he knew I understood. Back at the shop, I paid the shopkeeper for something apart from jaggery. A dog back at home loved this biscuit. I took it out of my bag and this little dog ate it.  A little something out of the heart on Makar Sankranti!

Chasing the unknown...

She was shivering standing before her whole life. She had dreams who haven't faced reality yet. She felt scared for them, protective like a mother. Doctors. Doctors. Doctors. It was all that her family had seen.  They support me, she thought. All the while knowing that they still consider her dreams unrealistic. She knew the tears that she had shed on darkest nights. She knew all prayers struck somewhere.
